celebrating silvertop

and john lautner, in general. the latimes magazine shoots today's cover story at the silverlake home, and runs an article celebrating the work of john lautner. seredipitously, the mak center is planning an architecture tour in oct that includes silvertop, so us plebes will have the chance to see the house made famous in 'less than zero.'

That's funny, I saw Less Than Zero when it came out but didn't know it was a Lautner house then, I was 19. I never forgot the house, though, and I just rewatched the film last night and was thinking about John Lautner, and wondering. It doesn't have the circular feeling that i often associate with his work (like the house from Diamonds Are Forever) but it's quite stunning, even with it's 80's touches (and furniture)!
