hot weather, hot chocolate
its hard to think about hot chocolate when its near 90 degrees, but one of my favorite nyc lunch spots, famous for their version, has finally opened in brentwood, city bakery. and while the chowhound reviews are mixed, I may just have to make the trek for the mac and cheese.and while I don't often write about restaurants on this blog, in a blatant attempt to get curbed LA to link to me again, there is enough going on the world of (semi) celebrity restaurant news to warrant a post:
- harrison ford's son, ben ford, is opening his new restaurant in culver city, ford's filling station, tomorrow night. eating LA has a preview.
- mike ovitz seems to be expanding his sushi empire, if you count being an investor in hamasaku as an empire. one intrepid chowhounder has unearthed the name on the new liquor license for a future restaurant in the old citrine space on melrose.
- and yet no news on the one restaurant that is practically guaranteed to be a blockbuster: batali's new pizzeria/salumeria with nancy silverton. still no confirmation on ETA.
but other happy news: the hungry cat is open for lunch. finally!
